As usual, we got our tree the weekend after Thanksgiving.
Meanwhile, Rowan is stuck being my baby. But, I mean, I can't help it! Look at these photos, one from when he was days old, and one from a month ago:

I guess I should rewind to Thanksgiving, which we celebrated with local friends. Rowan helped me bake several desserts for the occasion. Turns out he is a very excellent apple-peeler. Rowan also celebrated Thanksgiving at school with a feast of fruit salad and cornbread. Note the absence of Pilgrim and Native American regalia (below), a tasteful improvement over when Fiona attended the same preschool. Moving onto Christmas... Fiona lost a tooth (#6, on the bottom to the left of center) a few weeks prior to the big day and a discussion of the verity of the tooth fairy snowballed and lets just say a lot of myths were dispelled. There was something in a book she'd read that put a seed of doubt in her mind. We were all kind of stunned, but after some mourning time, Fiona rose to the occasion and promised not spill the beans to anyone (including her brother). Even with this discovery, Fiona was very excited about Christmas and she continues to hang onto the magic surrounding it. We had a great day--make that a great season. As usual, we got our tree the weekend after Thanksgiving. Among other things, Fiona got a ukulele for Christmas and some sequin flip shirts, and Rowan got a couple of build-a-robot kits and more snap circuits. It was interesting shopping for Fi because it seems that she's outgrowing toys---she's more into books and clothes these days. We also got a few games we're enjoying: Telestrations, Animal Quest, Jenga. Meanwhile, Rowan is stuck being my baby. But, I mean, I can't help it! Look at these photos, one from when he was days old, and one from a month ago: Rowan's been sick with a cold or something for the past week. He's been so tired, tucking himself under a quilt on the sofa and falling asleep. His appetite has just started to return. REALLY hoping no one else gets sick. This part of winter is the pits.
