We've gone through various evening rituals since Fiona was old enough to know how to stall bedtime. At 2, she danced in circles serenaded by her Mozart Music Cube -- one of the most brilliant baby toys ever made. At 3, she commanded Dada to animate her Elmo doll and make him talk in an almost-Elmo but kind of creepy voice while I pretended to be Santa. Geez, that is odd now that I am retelling it. She also liked for us to dance to Music Together's "Train Song" and "Caribbean Amphibian" performed by Jimmy Buffet and Kermit the Frog. Yeah, you heard me.

The last few days when I've gone to get Rowan in his crib, he's been sitting up, waiting for me -- no small feat when you're wearing a sleep sack. He's been moving from a prostrate position up to seated outside his crib, too, now for I don't know how long. I just kind of realized that this was happening. He makes it look so easy.
In addition to rolling, he's recently been army crawling i.e., pulling himself around on his arms while his legs remain extended behind him. And THEN, he started full-on crawling yesterday. He's not at all exclusively crawling; it's more like it's yet another mode of mobility that he tries out in between rolling and army crawling. But he's getting the hang of it and it's really charming to watch. View VIDEO here. So we can check "crawling" off of the milestone list. Hooray! |
