Speaking of comedy, Rowan loves to make people laugh -- and when he does, you can count on him reusing his good material over and over. For a while, "bum-bum" was his favorite phrase to throw in for giggles, but eventually (thank goodness) he realized his audience was no longer laughing. Now he likes to say things "smell like skunk poop." He contorts his face into wonderfully funny expressions, and will often command, "Watch this!" and make up some physical comedy on the spot.

Everybody's healthy, though Rowan got a throat culture because his tonsils are enlarged. He could just take after his mother. Fiona was very concerned about having to get a shot, crying and agonizing over it for days (me and my big mouth), but both kids endured and it wasn't as bad as she'd feared. I told her to please remember that because we have to go back in a month for the flu shot.
On Saturday, we'll head to Maine for a week, and then school starts for Rowan on the 3rd, for Fiona on the 8th. It's been a pretty great summer. I'm not sure I'm ready for the rigorous fall schedule ahead. We'll have to do our best to cherish these last few weeks.
