Rowan loves to be outside, even in this chilly weather, even when he falls on the ice, even when he has snow in his boots. He regularly brings his shoes to whichever grown-up is on hand and then reaches for the doorknob while grunting. "Can we go outside?" he pleads with his eyes. Unfortunately, Fiona doesn't usually want to go out (not that I can blame her). I fear she has my circulation, which means her hands and feet are cold by default. But sometimes we all get bundled up (the joy of being an adult who owns snow pants) and play in the snow. Lately this has proven especially challenging since the "snow" is more like icebergs than the light fluffy stuff. If you weigh under, oh, 140 pounds you won't break the surface, just skate over it, which sounds great but actually is quite hazardous. We're expecting 10-14" more tonight. School is already cancelled.
Words:
Mama
Dada
Nah-nah (Fiona -- Kate, it is more of a Nah than a Naa I've decided)
Mah (milk, yes)
Boo (moon)
Brr (balloon, ball)
Aaah (cat)
Buhf (dog)
Haaaah (hi -- this is a new one, usually accompanied by a wave)
Gestures:
Wave = hi and bye
Blow kisses = night-night
fingertips together = more
wave both hands in the air = all done
Here's a video of Rowan demonstrating his anatomy knowledge. Fiona did a similar one around the same age.
