Fiona puts on her fancy plastic heels, struts over to me, takes one off, and hands it to me. "I'm Cinderella, and you're the prince."
Her voice changes, higher and more gentle. "Hello, Prince!"
She starts walking away. If I say nothing, she calls out in her normal voice, "Now you say, 'But I don't even know your name!'"
I repeat, in my best princely voice, "But I don't even know your name!"
I make sad, mournful sounds for a while, lamenting that my sweet princess has disappeared. Eventually, Fiona makes her way back to me, voice high once more.
"Hello, Prince! I am Cinderella!"
I respond, "Oh, I am so sad! If only I could find my true love!"
"Here I am, Prince! It's me!" she says.
Me: "It can't be you! Only my dear sweet princess can fit into this shoe."
Fiona takes the shoe from me, puts it on her foot, puts on a goofy smile. I say, "It's you! Oh, it's you!" We embrace.
Fiona: "Let's get married!"
End scene.
Fiona, normal voice: "Now I'll be Sleeping Beauty and you be the Prince."
[act out, act out, act out. Essentially she lies on the floor and I awaken her with a kiss. Embrace. Marriage. End scene.]
Fiona, normal voice: "Now I'll be Sleeping Snow White and you be the Prince."
[basically the same as Sleeping Beauty. End scene.]
Repeat.
In a different game, we take turns being The Little Boy and either A Lion, A Wolf, or, new yesterday, A Volcano. It never ends well for The Little Boy.
