Peekaboo is the name of the game these days. Rowan also enjoys "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" (he twinkles his fingers), and pointing at airplanes as they fly overhead (the benefit of living under a flight path). He also points to lights and other random objects/sights. Other interests include climbing up and sliding down the little slide in the yard and sitting in the cozy coupe.
Rowan's second tooth has arrived (bottom center left). Guess I'll cancel that order for baby dentures. Peekaboo is the name of the game these days. Four- and five-year-old birthday party season is upon us. We had two just last weekend: one featured a guy with snakes, turtles, and a baby alligator; the other featured the biggest bouncy house I've ever seen. Fiona has birthday envy. It's not enough that she gets cake and goody bags. She wants PRESENTS. At least we have Halloween to look forward to. Fiona recently decided she wants to be a rock star. To her, this means sparkly clothes and dyed (pink or purple) hair. I blame Barbie Magazine 1986-1987. I'd love to dress Fiona and Rowan as a set pair. Like, initially Fiona wanted to be a princess, so I'd dress Rowan as a prince. I tried to push her to be Emily Elizabeth since Rowan has a Clifford the Big Red Dog costume, but she wasn't into it. Rowan as a rock star? This one requires some creativity, not to mention a lot of positive thinking that there won't be a major snow storm or hurricane to get in the way of trick-or-treating.

I have this fantasy where I convince Henry to dress up as Elvis and Helena as Priscilla. He has outright rejected my Elvis idea for the past two years, so I fear this will never happen. Instead, I'm making him a Pickles the Fire Cat costume this year. If Helena consents to wear a costume it will be a minor miracle.

That would be an amazing pairing! And I can see how a kid who wants to be Pickles the Fire Cat would have zero interest in dressing as Elvis.

When I try to make pairings, it fails miserably. But if it is the kids' idea, it works fine. For example, last year Andrew borrowed Isaac's Buzz Lightyear costume and Lauren decided she would be Jessie the Cowgirl. This year after considering many costumes, Lauren finally settled on Batgirl, and Andrew decided to be the Incredible Hulk. Heaven!
