And in my parent-teacher conference, Mrs. Watson said that Fiona is one of her best listeners. Hmm. Where'd Fiona get the money to bribe Mrs. Watson? She also said that Fiona sometimes would rather read a book than participate in other activities, and that when it's time to clean up, she wanders around the room instead of helping unless given a specific task. Okay. So maybe Mrs. Watson was telling the truth.
In the wool-over-my-eyes department, at nap time today, Fiona announced that she had to pee. I asked her if she could open the door to her room to get out and she said, "Oh yeah," and then did without any difficulty. This is extraordinary. For months we've been using the fact that she can't get out of her room for time-outs, and we've felt guilty that she can't get out at other times. In the morning when she wakes up she stands behind the door and calls for us. Perhaps this development is the best of both worlds: Fiona could open the door if she needed to (ie a fire or other emergency) but won't unless prompted (so she stays in her room at night).
