Nearly two months of school on the books. Fall has begun. Rowan is playing soccer on the weekends. On Mondays, he has swim class and music class (plus a second music class on Wednesdays, to which we drag Fiona). He seems to be into rhyming lately. Since he no longer officially takes a nap, he tends to fall asleep in the car or randomly around the house in the middle of the afternoon. Fiona decided to commit to Daisies (Girl Scouts) again this year, so she collected food for a local food pantry, and she and Brian will go camping this weekend (in the rain). Fiona is reading like crazy. She was having a hard time with the noisy gym, where she also eats lunch, but I let the gym teacher know and she has headphones for lunchtime, and I think things are improving. Fall activities: We rode the ferry to Governor's Island to see our friend's sculpture exhibit, and went apple picking in middle-of-nowhere NJ. We went to the local zoo twice. We've become mini-golf junkies, having gone four(?) times in the past several months. Next up: Halloween. The kids are very excited. Rowan asks every day if it's Halloween yet. I won't ruin the surprise and tell you about their costumes, but I will say that I've been impressed (and relieved) by their commitment to them. The treat cabinet is nearly bare so bring on the obscene amounts of candy.

Thanks for another great post. They help me remember what we did and when. I can barely remember what we did last month and I'm sure these posts will become more valuable as the years go by. xo B
