Rowan's book-of-the-moment is "The Little Engine That Could." In it, an engine carrying food and toys for the good little children on the other side of the mountain breaks down and the funny little clown tries to flag down other engines to help. One rejects them by indignantly saying, "I pull the likes of you? Indeed not!" This has become one of Rowan's favorite lines. He also likes, "Oh my goodness! Oh my gracious! The sky is falling!" from "Chicken Little." But it is particularly amusing to hear a three-year-old say, "Indeed not!" He also asked me, "Why he is indignant?" A very good question.
Something else Rowan currently loves? Undressing. Pants and diaper are a cinch, but the shirt is tricky. Fortunately, he's mostly experimenting with this at appropriate times, like when he actually needs to get undressed for bed or bath.
Brian built Fiona this amazing shelf that sits on top of her desk, allowing her to display more of her tchotchkes, of which there are so, so many. We located and reassembled her Lego sets so now they all have somewhere to safely reside (high enough so that a certain three-year-old can't reach and dissemble), but she's been pulling them down to play.
