Woombie? you ask. What happened to the Miracle Blanket you're always praising? I'll tell you: my large baby outgrew the MB and my friend loaned us these fantastic Woombies -- essentially swaddles without the arms pinned down. Seems like a good transition between the full-on swaddle and an arms-free sleep sack. Brian says he looks like a pupa.
Does rolling mean it's time to retire the swaddle? I don't think any of us are ready. Not long ago I put Rowan to bed unswaddled. While it wasn't a complete failure, he did wake himself up multiple times with uncontrolled arm movements, and ultimately at 2 am I swaddled him up and he slept soundly for the rest of the night.
That's the other way Rowan's marking his fifth (month) birthday: he consistently sleeps 12 or 12-1/2 hours at night, 7 pm to 7:30 am. The other night, he actually slept 14-1/2 hours, 5 pm (supposed to be a short restorative nap) to 7:30 am. And he's getting the hang of his morning nap.
Has there ever been an easier baby?
Happy birthday, little boy.
